Wow! This desk is nicer than I expected.Box arrived with a bit of minor damage including a deep puncture, but the way the parts, especially the top, are cocooned inside, there was no damage to the desk itself. The series of photos (hopefully they show in order) are taken in the process of unpacking. My first reaction to removing one of the chrome legs ‘these are thicker and more substantial than can be seen in the listing pics’ (for me, that was a good sign). The rectangular metal tubing on the double legs is 1.25” wide by .75” thick. The single legs’ dimensions are the same, only with the width and thickness reversed as they’re mounted. The chrome plating is very nice, though not flawless, but certainly meets my expectations. The 1.5” thick top is amazing! Feels like it’s made from high quality wood hollow-core, and painted on all sides but bottom in a thick glossy lacquer. Again, only minor details from being perfect, but the surface is flat and smooth, all corners are true, and really looks well done. As I’ve recommended this product in other reviews, since this a gloss lacquer, a bottle of Novus 1 plastic/acrylic cleaner would be recommended to keep its shine. (Finish even looks thick enough that in case of minor scratches, they could probably be buffed out.)Assembly was straightforward following the 4 step instructions, and was completed in about 30 minutes.TIP: For assembly, follow instructions in order. But, when you get to the back chrome crosspiece, prior to mounting, take one of the bolts and pre-install/remove in all 4 holes. The holes are all threaded, but some minor rough edges of these threads prevent the bolts from easily entering on the first try - this will make assembly difficult once back brace is in place. Pre-installing and removing the bolts prior to assembly makes task of mounting back brace a much easier task once it’s in place.Once on its feet, tighten all bolts per directions. It’s very sturdy, with only the slightest sway if you really push down and TRY to make it sway. A typical home/office environment would probably not cause this.I’m not going to sit on it, but I’d bet it could hold me (165lbs), and probably without even bowing the top.The nicest feature of this desk in my opinion is its floor to underside height (27+15/16”), which was a major factor in my search for my home office desk. I have a reproduction Eames Soft Pad Chair with arms, and due to design or drawers, a lot of the coordinating desk options available would not allow the arms of the chair to slide under without modification somewhere. This one has no trouble accommodating the chair underneath, and it will slide in all the way to the back cushions before it touches the crosspiece in the back. (I’ve got a relatively small area to work with, so being able to tuck the chair completely underneath makes a huge difference.)That final setup pic is just temporary as I was assembling it in my livingroom to get a feel for the whole look and function. Plenty of room on top for my laptop, desk lamp, and accessories with still more room to spare. More pics once it gets into its intended location in the back bedroom that’s being converted to my little home office.Like I said, overall it’s very nice - especially for its price and considering it’s a mailed flat-pack. It’s got a great style that would blend well into a 60s post-modern look.Great deal, totally recommend! :DWill update if any issues arise. This is a very small and low desk for the price. I have another high gloss white desk that was a few dollars more and it’s much larger and taller. This is suitable for a younger aged child, but for my adult graduate student daughter, it won’t be her needs in terms of table space. If you don’t need a lot of table top space and want a smaller than desk, this is the one.Love this!!! Came just in time before I needed It!!!!!!??????????Really happy with my desk. Easy to assemble and very sturdy.Don’t buy it, the holes that the screws are supposed to go into still have metal in them so the screw can’t fully go in. I have two holes that cannot have screws go in because of how poorly the drilling of the holes are. Scratches everywhere, it almost seems like a hassle to send it back. Save yourself a headache and don’t buy this.Desk came with a crack in it, revealing the wood on the inside, and messing up the entire matte look. It’s a really nice looking desk, and not to hard to put together, but it just sucks that the fake marble has a crack.Home
