I use my Stella at my sewing machine. It is flexible and low enough that the light does not shine in my eyes as I'm sewing. It is bright, lightweight, and I have turned the head up to light things away from the machine. Yes, it is a bit pricey but for me it is great. It is portable and I can move it to another spot in my home or ravell with it to retreats or classes where I will be doing close work. For some people, depending on the type of work it is used for, it might be too low. The floor lamp might be a better choice. The Stella Edge is also available. It is a clamp-on, but would not work on my style of sewing table. Pay attention to the dimensions and what you want the lamp to do.Oddly enough, when I first got the lamp and turned it on, I was not especially pleased with the brightness. I sewed for a few hours and then turned it off when I started cleaning up. That is when I realized I had been "sewing in the dark" before my Stella. It was much brighter - as well as adjustable- than I realized. The Stella replaced an Ott light that broke early in its life and wouldn't adjust properly and also "hummed" so much I hated using it. My Stella is sleek, bright, quiet, and I love it.
