This chair is not only a stylish replica of a classic Eames office chair, but it is an extremely well made and comfortable chair! I have a mid-century modern house and I like to keep that vibe with lots of my furnishings, so that criteria narrowed my search a good bit. The first chair I ordered had a multi-part base that had to be assembled upon arrival; this was the down-fall. After about a week, the screws holding the base loosened and couldn't be tightened. Long story short - I will only now consider office chairs with a solid, one-piece base and this chair delivers! It has a solid aluminum frame and base, which makes a big structural difference. This chair is very solid.Assembly was a breeze. Simply pop the wheels into the star-shaped base. Insert the pneumatic cylinder into the base, then insert the chair body onto the other end of the cylinder. It took me far longer to unpack everything than to assemble the chair. As a person with lower back problems, this chair is a wonderful relief! Though it will tilt back, the standard position is a great, upright position that is ideal for my back problems. As a 5’3” person, this chair at its lowest height is perfect for a healthy seated position with 90-degree bends at my knees. The seat itself is also relatively shallow at 16 inches deep. As a shorter person, I often have a problem with seats being too deep which either causes my feet to dangle off the ground or a bad angle for my back as I lean to reach the backrest. However, a tall person might find this seat to shallow. At 14 inches high this chair has a lower back than most office chairs; for me this is not an issue, but for some it may be.
