I've been using my new adjustable height desk from Calico Designs for several months now. It's been a mostly positive experience. Let's get into the details:Pros:- It looks nice.- The parts feel solid and sturdy.- At its lowest setting, it's perfect for sitting at with my office chair.- It's simple enough to adjust as often as needed.- It holds weight just fine, including my leaning on it with my elbows more often than I should.- The clever wheel design means you just tilt the table back slightly and it's pretty easy to push or pull around.Cons:- At its highest setting, it's not quite high enough for my elbows to be at a 90-degree angle when I'm standing. I have to use a pretty tall laptop stand to get the laptop screen in front of my face, and I have to use a keyboard stand to raise the keyboard up enough to I don't have to bend my wrists or arms down much. I'm fine with this solution, but keep that in mind if you're 6 feet or taller.- The desk leans very easily when you apply weight to any of the edges. Due to the fact that the desk isn't making much contact with the floor because of how their wheel design works, It's very easy to tilt the desk further forward or further backward simply by pressing down on the top of it.- The desk can "clang" around a bit in a very annoying way. I've got all the screws tightened, but as I put small amounts of pressure on the desk, such as even when typing on my keyboard, I'll often hear little squeaks or very soft metal clanging sounds from parts tapping together under the top of the desk.- The amount of force required to raise/lower the desk is inconsistent. Sometimes it's very easy and almost seems to move itself once I get it started. Other times I have to put a somewhat concerning amount of force into it which makes me worried that I'm causing a lot of wear and tear that's going to eventually make the parts stop sliding properly. Conclusion:I'm happy with my purchase. If I had to do it all over again, I might try some other similarly-priced options first to see how they compare. Since I don't have that option, I don't regret purchasing this desk as it meets my needs and is more affordable than many variable height desks (and many others don't look as nice). If it stops working or I start experiencing other issues with it, I'll try and be sure to update this review.in my office I have a fancy standup desk and I love it. But during these covid-y times, I'm not in my office.I needed a small footprint desk (Under 40") that would work for my height (6'4") and be stable enough to support video conferencing while I hunt and peck on the keyboard. I am very impressed with this desk.Delivery was quick and the product arrived in perfect condition. It was easy to assemble with most tools provided. (I needed to get an additional screw driver and wrench). There was some confusion about how to install the plastic tabs that activate the pressurized cylinder but it only took a few seconds to figure out. I also added washers to the bolts for stability and ease of future removal. The desk looks and feels quality. The top look like cherry (although I think it is printed plastic) and the base is sturdy metal painted white. Up and down motion works well. It is comfortable to use and very stable.I would have preferred to see the up levers on the front rather than on the back for ease of raising and lowering. But I can comfortably reach forward and with a little effort raise or lower the desk.I found myself working from home for an indeterminate period (Coronavirus!) and wanted something relatively compact, stand/sit capability, and not too expensive. This checked all the boxes and is exactly what I needed.- It arrived and was easy to assemble, taking <30 minutes. (Caveat: the legs arrived two different lengths, with no instructions on how to get them to even them out to start assembly. Customer service responded in <30 minutes to my email with instructions to push in the pin on the top of the leg to raise and lower the height, essentially utilizing the mechanism to raise/lower the desk once fully assembled.)- Now assembled, the height adjustability works very well. Using both hands, I can turn the lever and either pull up on the desk to raise or push down to lower. This does take a little bit of strength, but it moves quite easily.- The desk looks very nice tucked in the corner of my living room. It has clean lines and a nice neutral color (I got the black top with gray legs).- It's the perfect size, holding my monitor, laptop, keyboard, mouse, and with room for my notebook and coffee.Highly recommend this desk! After working on coffee tables for several months, I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a real workspace. I missed my standing height office desk and since my COVID home office is in the corner of my bedroom, I needed something compact that I could easily roll out of the way when not in use. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this desk checked all of my! Once assembled, you have to put muscle behind it to lower to a sitting position, but if that wasn't the case it would float down when typing at standing height... which would be worse. I also purchased a $30 set of monitor shelves so video calls are at the right height when standing. Great purchase! Would highly recommend this for anyone needing at home versatility!
