I had a pair of pink/purple ropelights when i was in my early twenties 15 years ago. I kept those things on all the time, and they lasted years! These are just like them, but we'll see if they last as long. They were used to replace lights on our BUCKEYE BIG "O" SIGN.The lights I ordered were obviously out of stock so these were sent instead. They were probably just fine lights ,but they did not hook-up with the existing lights I was putting new lights on some homemade 7ft. candy canes we hang on our pier .Unfortunately it was the first Christmas our candy canes were not on our pier since 2005. Oh well. Not the worst thing that could happen .Christmas was still a blessing and much enjoyedI don't write many reviews, however in this case I'm doing it to help future buyers. First, these lights absolutely can be cut. I read a review saying they couldn't, but there are cut locations every three feet. I've done it and they work great. The set comes with three additional plug extensions and the accessories to use them. Be careful when you use the little spiked pieces, they're tough to put in.My MOST IMPORTANT lesson, DO NOT PLUG THEM IN UNTIL YOU'VE UN-SPOOLED THEM. I made the mistake of hanging 80 feet of the rope. I ran out of hangers prematurely. I left the other 70 feet spooled and tested what I had hung. They worked great and I left them on for a short time (somewhere between 30 mins to an hour). Unfortunately, that was enough time for the spooled section to overheat, melt together, and short. The next day when I tried to turn the strand on...nothing. I checked and of course the fuse was blown. I replaced it and it blew again. That's when I discovered what I had done. Good news is, I was able to cut the rope just before the damage and salvaged 100 foot or so.Please read and heed the tag on the product. Do not plug these in for more then a few seconds until you've hung them.Save your money and buy the cheaper ones. These won't last a seasonBought as an alternative to electric heaters in our greenhouse. Enough ambient heat to do the job without burning the leaves and still more cost effective than space heatersI love incandescent lighting, and these are wonderful. Our front yard is so romantic now, with this soft warm lighting that is not too bright for sensitive eyes. We have two of these 150' strands and have cut them to size, to fit where we need them.Note: It is not an easy task to cut and re-terminate; but it is possible, just takes some patience. The plastic has a little scissor marking every 3 feet where it can be cut. Don't use the superglue that comes with it, it is too thin and just drips. The plug that comes pre-installed is waterproof, but the additional plugs aren't really ... So I cut off the far end first since my first strand was for in-house.This rope lighting keeps blowing fuses
