The "designer series" looks nicer than the standard model. This is achieved by rounding off the corners. Unfortunately, while this improves the looks, it is less effective as a stand for writing. The curved edges on the sides, is lost usable surface area, and the curving on the bottom retention ledge allows documents to slide off of the desktop. I encourage you to buy the "101 Classic" model.
