I plan on converting my spare bedroom into an office and I decided to purchase a corner desk for my computer and accessories. I have been researching a variety of corner desks for over a year and decided on the Bush Furniture 48W Corner Desk. It appeared to be sturdy, and viewing images on-line, the dark cherry veneer fit my requirement.I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful cherry veneer desktop! I wasn’t expecting the desk to be this nice, especially the side/leg supports, which are a deep grey ash color, almost black. The colors work well together. The desk is made of particle board with veneer/laminate for a surface, and the price on Amazon was quite reasonable.I was worried about damage during transport, and after receiving the desk my worries were justified. I paid the delivery fee to have the desk delivered to any room in my house, which was well worth the cost. The delivery technician had difficulties handling the large package by himself! Once the package was placed in my home, I immediately checked for damage. A few of the package sides were almost open, luckily some of the large staples were still intact. There were a few punctures in the box, but fortunately nothing was damaged!I would like to recommend to Bush Furniture that this desk be delivered in two separate packages. The desk top could be one box with the remaining components in a second box. In this way, the weight will be more distributed and less difficulty in handling. I have received Sauder furniture with separate boxes and the end result was less chance for damage.Assembly was fairly easy using the pictorial instructions provided. I am a small female, weigh about 105 lbs., and in my 60’s. I was able to assemble the desk by myself, but required assistance in lifting the desk right-side up. I read reviews before the assembly process and found a number of them were very helpful. One reviewer pointed out that sides B and C required the pilot holes to be opened and drilled deeper for the 3” screws. They were spot on! This delayed the assembly by 15 to 20 minutes while assessed the situation and used my drill with the appropriate drill bit to modify the pilot holes. I was also careful not to tighten all the fasteners until the components were lined up properly.Overall, the assembly took about 2-1/2 hours, which includes unpacking, reviewing components, reading instructions, and organizing the appropriate tooling. I also labeled the inside of each side/leg for easier assembly. If you are looking for a beautiful, sturdy, professional looking corner desk, I would highly recommend the Bush Furniture 48W Corner Desk! I plan on buying one of the straight desks (36”, 48”) as an extension once my office remodeling is more complete.
